As a reducing agent and source of SO₂ in solution, it reacts rapidly with oxidising species including free cyanide, dissolved oxygen, and heavy metal ions, making it indispensable in the mining industry.
Our sodium metabisulphite is supplied at a minimum purity of 97% and meets the requirements for metallurgical and water treatment use. It is most widely used in the SO₂/Air (INCO) process for cyanide destruction in tailings slurries and effluent streams. Supplied with a full Certificate of Analysis.
